DB / Linux / SIGKILL
CRITICAL
Linux Signal 9
SIGKILL (9) is the 'nuclear option'. It tells the kernel to immediately rip the process out of memory. The process gets no chance to save data.
Common Causes
- Manual execution of kill -9.
- System is shutting down critically.
- Process was unresponsive to SIGTERM (15).
How to Fix
1 Use SIGTERM First
Always try Signal 15 first to let the process clean up safely.
BASH
$ kill -15 <pid>
