Linux Signal 9

SIGKILL (9) is the 'nuclear option'. It tells the kernel to immediately rip the process out of memory. The process gets no chance to save data.

Common Causes

Manual execution of kill -9.
System is shutting down critically.
Process was unresponsive to SIGTERM (15).

How to Fix

1 Use SIGTERM First

Always try Signal 15 first to let the process clean up safely.
